Evaluation

For this project I am genuinely happy with progress throughout, although when first getting this project and finding out that I would be creating a design that another student would be creating on me, I was slightly worried incase they didn't see the angle that I was coming from with my design, however the partner I was given did my designs pretty much how I wanted them. Also my partner and I communicated a lot both in our practical lessons, asking as many questions as we needed as this helped us with both creating each others designs and instructing the other in creating our own design. We also communicated outside of our timetabled lessons by chatting on facebook to arrange to meet up after lessons to practise our designs. After all that I feel a lot more confident at creating a design that I have been given, and to be able to create it in a certain amount of time without getting too panicky.
Throughout our timetabled lessons I have learnt new skills with the techniques that we have been taught, as well as working on all different hair types, I feel like this has made more confident in doing hair.

For my final Redheads and Royalty design I feel like I have designed a look that combined with both historical and modern concepts, with having a heart shape within the hair with the use of crepe hair for the padding. This project has definitely helped me for future projects and hair styles with the wide variety of techniques that I have learnt.

Timed Assessments

Here are the photos from both my partner and I's timed assessment. When it came to my turn to do the timed assessment with my partners design I found it fairly easy due to the amount I practised. The only thing that had changed was the plaits on either side of the head instead of them being a french plait where you only pick up hair from one side, they were just normal french plaits.

Below is photos of my design, my partner created on myself.

Practises for Timed Assessments

These photos are my first attempt at creating my partners idea, at first I thought it would have been fairly easy, as it was just plaits, a bit of crimping and adding in some padding. But when I came to sectioning her hair, I found it quite difficult as her hair is long and heavy, which made it a bit difficult to section and keep in the sectioning clips, due to this I had to keep adding in more clips down the sections to keep any flyaway hairs out of the way.The first technique that I had to do was these two plaits that went down both sides of the head. They were fairly easy to do after I got the hang of it, as these plaits were like french plaits but inside of collecting hair every time I crossed over a strand of hair, instead I would have to collect hair from one side. When I came to do the second plait I found this a lot easier but I think is due to the fact that there was more in the second plait than in the first one. Once once side was done it was a lot more easier to do the other side as I knew how much hair needed to go in each section to create these plaits. For the rest of the hair the top half was crimped with some padding underneath, which I found easy as I had practised a lot in class as well at home. For the rest of the hair my partner still wasn't sure what to do with the rest of her hair, in which we came to the conclusion that the section that has been crimped will only be crimped halfway down and the rest to be plaited as normal. And the rest of the hair will be plaited and then straightened which will make the hair a slight wavy.

These photos above are my second practise of my partners design, when creating her hairstyle again I found it really easy as I had practiced the plaits quite a lot as I have never done them before. Also because I had done this design the week before and the fact that we had talked about it quite a lot made it a lot easier for especially on the day.

Below are photos of my design that my partner has created on my hair, I think she did really well with how I wanted it to look like, at first i wanted it have bits hanging down over the bun making it messy, we did try this but due to the fact that my hair isn't that thick made the crepe hair show through, and the section that was meant to hang down didn't really work.
